KUAF Arts Beat: Bentonville Hotel "Elevates" Local Art

Aimee Papazian

In her "Murmurations" installations Amiée Papazian mimics the phenomenon of when flocks of birds swell and form swirling, darting shapes in the sky. Her "Mumurations with Stripe" is one of three works by local artists now on exhibit at 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville.

"It's like magic," she says. "It's this moment where I get just a brief glimpse of perspective on my life and who I am and why I'm here."

A Fayetteville-based mixed media artist, Papazian's piece "Murmuration with Stripe" is an eight-foot structure of ceramic birds on wires.

In September she was one of 20 Artist 360 grant winners through the Mid-America Arts Alliance. Her installation is part of the museum's Elevate exhibit, which includes two other local artists- Hubert Neal Jr. and Elise Raborg. It opens with a reception at 21 C tonight from 7 to 10 and runs through next March.
