KUAF Arts Beat: A New Local Venue Aspires To Become Creative Hub

Katy Henriksen

Although Stage 18 has quietly hosted shows, events and art nights since last November, the new performing arts venue just off the downtown square in Fayetteville celebrates its grand opening  this weekend with free all-ages events.

"We are a venue that has a bar, not a bar that has a stage," states co-owner Lauren Embree when asked about what sets Stage 18 apart from other Northwest Arkansas venues. Lauren, along with her husband David Embree founded the performing arts space with the hope to provide a hub to the creative community.
