KUAF Arts Beat: Preserving the Legacy of Florence Price with UA Special Collections

Ephemera from the life of celebrated Little Rock-born composer Florence Price is now online thanks to a digitization project by the University of Arkansas Libraries Special Collections Department

Many of these manuscripts, letters, photographs, concert programs and biographical documents were acquired in 2009 from a couple who were rennovating Price's former summer home in St. Anne, Illinois. Now that they're fully processed, a digital collection of 50 hand-picked materials is available for free public perusal.

Curators Geoffrey Stark and Misha Gardner stopped by KUAF to discuss their selection and what they found most striking about this exhibition of Price's life.

"I like that we get to preserve some history and give her a new life," Gardner said. "Just seeing how many people are interested in her life and works has been really rewarding."
