Event Description

Join course director Chris Teal for weekly 60-minute interactive Zoom video sessions that will drill you on the essential building blocks of jazz songs and improvisational vocabulary. Internalize scales and patterns by first singing and then playing by ear on your instrument. Play-along grooves and harmonic progressions will be played during class to strengthen your foundation and provide harmonic context enabling you to play songs and improvise with confidence. While the majority of the material will be taught by ear, written transcriptions will be available for review after class. Modeled after group workout classes, these fun classes strengthen our community of learners! We’ll all be challenging ourselves to refine our technique, learn new skills and solidify our jazz foundation together. This class will be as interactive as the student wishes and there will be several different participation options each week depending on your level of comfort. Take advantage of this great opportunity to practice fundamentals with a group of like-minded learners!
