Nalbinding w/Carolyn Haley

Nalbinding w/Carolyn Haley

Introductory Class: Nalbinding is a single needle looping technique that predates knitting and crochet. Found on all continents where civilizations arose, and called by many names around the world, Nalbinding, or needle binding in English, allows you to take a simple tool and create a stronger denser fabric than knitting or crochet that doesn't frog when cut. This craft is practiced by many who are involved in Viking reenactment where it was historically used to make hats, gloves and socks. In this 3 hour class participants will have a chance to learn the Oslo Stitch and connecting in the round. With this base of skills participants will be able to start their nalbinding journey and create a variety of items. Workshop fee includes all materials and instruction. Handouts will be provided.

Advanced:In this workshop we will take your basic skills in nalbinding with the Oslo stitch and learn how to start in the round and oval, expanding and decreasing stitches, and pattern reading. We will also explore a couple of new stitches to expand your stitch library. We will work to get you started on a hat, mittens or socks depending on your interest! Pre-requisite for this class is Intro to Nalbinding or basic nalbinding skills with understanding in the Oslo stitch. Bring your own needle to work with.
