Urban Agriculture – Native Plants for Urban and Community Gardens

Urban Agriculture – Native Plants for Urban and Community Gardens

This is the first of a 3-part presentation series. One of the advantages of native plants is that they’re already adapted to the local soil and climate and require less water and fertilizer than many cultivated species. There are also many native species that are edible and medicinal and can easily be grown in a garden setting. In this program, you’ll learn which native plant species are ideal for community gardens and urban agriculture, the parts of these species that can be harvested for food or medicine, and tips for how to harvest and prepare them.
