Officials Set Target Date to Start Easing COVID-19 Restrictions

April 17, 2020 2:10 p.m. — At today's COVID-19 briefing, Gov. Asa Hutchinson reported the state has 1,695 positive cases, an increase of 75 from yesterday.  Deaths remain at 37.  As of today, 593 people have recovered, an increase of 45.

The governor's Medical Advisory Committee for Post-Peak COVID-19 Response has issued a report identifying four priorities for post-peak response. These include restoring the state's economy in a timely fashion, protecting the most vulnerable, maintaining good public health care and capacity, and preventing resurgence.

Officials are setting May 4 as a target date for when restrictions may begin being lifted around the state.
