COVID-19 Cases Surpass 20,000 in Arkansas

June 29, 2020 2:13 p.m. —  In today's COVID-19 briefing, Gov. Hutchinson reported the state has 20,257 positive cases, an increase of 439 from yesterday. Of those, 21 are in correctional facilities. Hospitalizations increased 17 for a total of 300. Arkansas has 265 deaths related to the coronavirus, an increase of 1. In the last 24 hours, 4,939 tests have been conducted.   

Health Secretary Dr. Nate Smith said the state has a total of 5,926 active cases. Of those, 116 are in nursing homes, 583 are in correctional facilities and 5,227 are in the community. Of the new cases, 92 are in Washington County,  56 in Pulaski County, 48 in Benton County, 31 in Sevier County and 22 in Sebastian County.
