Arkansas is host to the largest variety of blood-sucking ticks in the nation. And more Arkansans are reporting being sickened by bites from infected ticks, including Lyme disease. Federal and state public health agencies, however, count zero cases of Lyme disease in Arkansas. This summer, Arkansas scientists across institututions and agencies are collaborating to document tick species--and tick disease pathogens present in the state.
