BTH: Neighborhood Development in the Mid-South

Affordable housing, food accessibility, blighted properties and community disinvestment are common issues that many Memphis neighborhoods face. Noah Gray, executive director of the Binghampton Development Corporation, says that there are many benefits to addressing these challenges, including decreased crime.

Gray joins executive director of the Frayser Community Development Corporation, Steve Lockwood, and Roshun Austin, President and CEO of The Works, Inc. for this week’s WKNO-TV Behind the Headlines. Host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries join in the discussion about neighborhood development and efforts to avoid gentrification.

Guests also talk about Memphis 3.0, agreeing that the plan greatly benefits their neighborhoods. Wrapping up, guests discuss local blighted properties and future development plans.
