County Planners Deny Red Dirt Mine

More than 80 neighbors of a proposed red dirt mine in rural Washington County turned out for a county planning board meeting to voice their opposition.

Washington County planners on Thursday denied a conditional use permit for an open-pit dirt mining development in a rural residential district west of Fayetteville.
