Last week, Fayetteville Health Officer Dr. Marti Sharkey sent a letter to University of Arkansas Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz on behalf of the city's Health Board asking him to consider the rapid community spread and hospital capacity in Northwest Arkansas when deciding whether to bring students back to campus after Thanksgiving. Also last week, the U of A System Board of Trustees approved a resolution instructing campuses to prioritize in-person coursework as much as possible during the spring semester while following health policy directives and preparing for a shift in teaching methods as necessary.
