Local Methodist Church Grapples With Proposed Split

Courtesty
/
Central United Methodist
Central United is the largest United Methodist church in Arkansas with more than 4,600 members.

In January, the United Methodist Church announceda proposed split over the issues of same-sex marriage and the role of LGBTQ+ clergy. The protocol would result in a new, more conservative "traditionalist" denomination, and offer the mainline United Methodist a way to loosen restrictions around homoseuxuality. We hear from a representative from Central United Methodist in Fayetteville as indivdual congreations prepare for the vote in May.
