Violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate was so enamored with Saint-Saën's third violin concerto that he urged the publisher to allow him to play the "jewel" before anyone else. "You will see that I will make this first class work a veritable prince of hte heavens." The work sees a new recording in Andrew Wan's performance of Saint-Saëns three concertos for Analekta.
