Slight Changes to Morning Edition starting Monday, November 17

Beginning tomorrow morning, the way NPR times the segments of Morning Edition is about to change slightly. You’ll hear national newscasts in three parts of the hour in Morning Edition instead of two beginning Monday, November 17. Slighter changes are planned for All Things Considered, too.

Did you know that every public radio program has a clock? Broadcast clocks are set templates that stations like ours use to track the timing of a show's stories and interviews, newscasts, and funding credits each day.

These changes to NPR’s broadcast clocks will help align programs with the way people listen to radio today, and provide stations like KUAF with more flexibility to include the regional news and info that's important to you.

Some of the adjustments are really small and you probably won’t notice them. Others are more substantial. For instance, the times when you hear news updates in Morning Edition are changing. Instead of a newscast at the beginning of each half hour, you’ll hear news updates every twenty minutes during the program.

So if you time your morning according to the radio, you may want to keep your watch handy until you get used to the new clocks. And please let us know any feedback you might have - you can send them to kuafinfo@uark.edu.
