Jazz Travels

Locally produced: Jazz Travels, a two-hour radio program originating on KUAF 91.3 FM, presents jazz from the earliest to its most recent recordings, and from recognized masters to regional and local artists making great music today. The host Steve Wilkes, accomplished jazz drummer, brings his musician’s sensibility and insight to acoustic straight ahead jazz as well as Brazilian and Afro-Cuban genres. Shows are typically themed, and use the travel metaphor as a guide to construct set lists. For instance, a show might “travel” to New Orleans or Kansas City, and feature artists from there, or it might “travel” in time to 1959 or 1963, two of the most influential years in the history of recorded jazz.
