Squirrel Nut Zippers talk holiday tour

The Squirrel Nut Zippers have developed a loyal following over the last 30 years, recording and performing a mix of swing, blues, R&B, bluegrass, and vintage country. The band encountered success in 1998 when they released Christmas Caravan, a Christmas album of mostly original songs. That record serves as the core of the current Zippers tour that will stop at Walton Arts Center on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams spoke with Jimbo Mathus, an SNZ founder, about their ongoing holiday adjacent tour.

UAMS directs grant to further research in maternal health disparities

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will direct more than $17 million dollar in grant funding to study maternal health and disparities. The money comes from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Institute (PCORI). UAMS will be a partner with 14 Community Health Centers across the state. Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams spoke with Lanita White, the CEO of Community Health Centers of Arkansas, who says there is a need for improving maternal health in the state.

Nate Walls talks Trails of Love, giving back during the holiday season

Nate Walls is the owner of Second Hand Smoke barbecue and catering. He also runs a non-profit, Second Helping NWA. Later this month, Second Helping NWA will coordinate their Trails of Love event with Woodstone Pizza to collect toys, coats, and more for families in northwest Arkansas. Walls spoke with Ozarks at Large Kyle Kellams in the Anthony and Susan Hui News Studio to talk about these events.

Republican governors attempt to block 'foreign adversaries' from purchasing U.S. land

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joined 16 other Republican governors earlier this week in calling on President Joe Biden and Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen to prevent foreign adversaries, such as China, from buying land in the United States.
