'The Prom' draws from real events to create a fictional story with true social commentary

"The Prom" is a musical comedy that uses a real-life event for inspiration. The basic, fictional plot: actors panned for their performances in a failed Broadway play decide to find a “cause” to improve their image. The element rooted in fact: the characters read about a teen girl who wants to take her girlfriend to the prom, and the local PTA tries to deny her that experience. Fayetteville’s second annual Restaurant Week serves up specials

Fayetteville’s second annual Restaurant Week begins serving up deals and specials on Sunday. Nearly 80 restaurants will participate during the seven days. This week, Chef John Harpool, executive chef and general manager of Bocca, and Molly Rawn, the executive director of Experience Fayetteville- the presenting organization for Restaurant Week- came to the Carver Center for Public Radio to speak about the event.

He’ll talk about art as healing at St. Paul's Episcopal Church this weekend as part of the Tippy McMichael Lecture Series. He spoke with Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams about how he prepares for such a talk.
