Gospel singer Ruthie Foster was molded by her roots, and the spirit still draws her home to Austin, Texas, where she creates her own spin on gospel, blues, reggae and soul music.

“It’s really about showing up, and being present, and having that will to want to be part of the energy that moves the room," Foster says. After trying her hand as a band singer and moving to New York to pursue her music, she found her way back to Texas as a solo perfomer. "I found myself, and I found my musical family in Texas."
