Of Note for Wed. Mar. 2, 2016: An Italian String Quartet's Early Webern

Italian string quartet Quartetto di Cremona flew to Tulsa, where they embarked on a U.S. road tour. Lucky for us, they stopped along the way to perform Webern inside our very own Firmin-Garner Performance Studio.

This lush romantic piece from a 16-year-old who would later prefer writing in the dense 12-tone structure was one of the first pieces the quartet ever played together. Hear that, as well as highlights from their new disc of Beethoven, which continues their project to record all of the composer's chamber music for strings, on Wednesday's program coming up at 11 a.m. on KUAF as well as at 6 p.m. on KUAF-2.
