Sunday Symphony for May 29, 2016: Mendelssohn's Reformation Symphony

Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5. Op. 107,  "Reformation," features hymns and other themes that would not normally be found in this type of work, inextricably tying it to the historical celebration that Mendelssohn originally composed it for. Despite its original intention the score was not released until after Mendelssohn’s death, categorized as one of five of his more mature symphonies. Hear a passionate rendering of this piece by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, led by Reinhard Seifried,  coming up from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on KUAF.
