Michael Peven

The 40 year legacy of a former photography professor and art department chair is celebrated in "Michael Peven: A Retrospective," now on display at the Fine Arts Center Gallery on the University of Arkansas campus.

Alongside his photography, the exhibit also includes glimpses into his unconventional interactive book art, visual narratives and perhaps his biggest triumph—his students’ successes.

“His legacy extends beyond his own work and into the work of his students,” explains Rebecca Drolen, a photography professor who was hired by Michael Peven, who helped curate the show.

The exhibit is on display now through July 26. The University of Arkansas's Fine Arts Center Gallery hours during the summer are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but require a visit to the School of Art office around the corner for a docent.
