Of Note for Thursday, September 25: Schoenberg's Transfiguring Sextet

In the Emerson String Quartet's album Journey they take us to an internal one of what is described as "anguish and psychological torment to acceptance and love" via Schoenberg's sextet Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), a radical sextet composed in 1899. When it debuted it provoked fighting in the auditorium. Hear the famed dissonance of this sextet on Thursday's Of Note with Katy Henriksen.
