Arkansas Senate Bill Aims to Deregulate Short-Term Rentals

Eureka Springs has enacted some of the strictest short-term rental ordinances in Arkansas to preserve local neighborhoods and historic districts.

Senate Bill 197, sponsored by Sen. Joshua Bryant, R-Rogers, proposes to prohibit local restrictions on short-term rentals to allow the industry to flourish. If approved, the measure will nullify municipal ordinances enacted in a growing number of Arkansas cities and towns that require short-term rental licensure, permits and safety inspections — and also work to control short-term rental sprawl.
