Franz Schubert is rumored to have penned his expansive 15th string quartet in merely 10 days in June of 1826 - chronologically between his "Death and the Maiden" and the famed C major quintet. The result was only published posthumously, hence the op. 161. Hear the entirety performed by the Tokyo String Quartet on Thursday's program.
