Record Number of Arkansans Hospitalized Due to COVID-19

During his weekly briefing yesterday, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced a record number of Arkansans have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. The Arkansas Department of Health reported five more people were admitted around the state, bringing the total number of hospitalized patients to 529. Health Secretary Dr. Jose Romero said gatherings during Labor Day weekend were likely to blame. The state also reported 22 additional deaths, bringing that total to 1,321 confirmed cases along with 148 probable COVID-19 deaths. There were 532 new cases of the virus with Washington County leading the way with 57, Benton County had 27 and Sebastian County 25. The governor also announced officials have revised guidelines for long-term care facilities that meet several criteria. To watch the full briefing, click here.
