Trash Can, Plastic Easter Eggs, Nitrogen Combine for Eruption, Education

In conjunction with the Northwest Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair on the University of Arkansas campus, the UA chapter of the Association of Women Geoscientists recently held a geology fair for about 150 sixth grade Gifted and Talented Students. The highlight of the visual, hands-on demonstrations was a liquid nitrogen volcano, which demonstrated that volcanoes in the natural world erupt not just because of heat, but because of pressure too.
