New City of Holiday Island Takes Shape

The popular golfing resort of Holiday Island is now a full-fledged city.

Last November, a majority of residents of Holiday Island voted to turn their unincorporated resort community in northern Carroll County into a town. Seven months later, the new mayor, Dan Kees, his administrative staff and town council have not only set up municipal operations, they've upgraded Holiday Island to a city of the second class.
