Speaker Joe Neal studied and photographed the birds and insects that visited the fragrant male catkins on the Ozark chinquapin trees planted at Hobbs State Park. This study is new data that Neal has not yet shared with the public, according to the Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area website.

Joe Neal, a nationally recognized bird expert, has studied and photographed the birds and insects that visit the Ozark chinquapin trees planted at Hobbs State Park. There is much to learn about the Ozark chinquapin tree since a Chestnut blight killed most of them almost 65 years ago. Neal will speak at Hobbs State Park on his findings this Sunday. Pete Hartman speaks with Joe about what to expect.
