A top Trump administration official is visiting Arkansas next week as the state awaits word on proposals to move 60,000 people off its Medicaid expansion and impose a work requirement on thousands of participants.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson's office on Friday said the Republican governor will join Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma at the Capitol Monday for an announcement regarding the state's proposed changes to the program, which uses Medicaid funds to purchase private insurance for low-income residents. Verma also planned to meet with lawmakers and providers during her visit.
Arkansas has proposed lowering the eligibility cap from 138 percent of the federal poverty level to 100 percent. It has also proposed imposing a work requirement for some on the program.
