Commercial Appeal columnist Ted Evanoff talks about the future of logistics and shipping in Memphis.

Jobs are still returning, slowly, since the pandemic shutdown back in March. While many small, local businesses are still recovering, one sector has fared much better than expected: shipping.

A year ago, Memphis based FedEx was worried that online behemoth Amazon would soon be a major shipping competitor. But as Ted Evanoff points out, FedEx is having a very big year. Because the pandemic has driven so much shopping online, FedEx has seen its stock price soar.

In addition, as a hub for international shipping, Memphis could become a future distribution point for COVID vaccines.
