Don Tyson School of Innovation Department of Theatre presents Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory
The Theatre Department at Don Tyson School of Innovation will open their 2023-24 season with D.W. Gregory’s powerful drama, Radium Girls.
Radium Girls is set in the early 20th century when recently-discovered radium was marketed as a “miracle cure.” Radium was used to treat cancer, blindness and hysteria. The world became enamored by its pale glow, and everyday products were dosed with the toxic element. Radium was used in watch dials until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious and painful disease.
Inspired by a true story, “Radium Girls” traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she battles not only the U.S. Radium Corporation but her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.
Radium Girls runs October 12, 13, & 14, 2023 at the Pat Ellison Performing Arts Center, 2667 Hylton Road in Springdale. Show time is 6:30pm for all three dates.
Don Tyson School of Innovation is an open enrollment public conversion charter school within the Springdale Public Schools District offering on site, blended, and full virtual options to students.
