GetSmART! Learning Series: The Business of Plays
Learn more about the ins and outs of writing, workshopping, and producing plays with playwright, educator, and producer Rachel Lynett (she/they). “The Business of Plays” will help aspiring playwrights with tips on writing and talking about their works; understanding the materials needed when sending out plays; writing strong artistic statements; discovering yourself and your confidence; learning how plays are developed for the stage; and learning how to build strong networks and connections in the theatre and film industry. Lynett earned a 2019 Individual Artist Fellowship from the Arkansas Arts Council in the category of playwriting. She is a queer, Afro-Latinx playwright who writes dark comedies about complex and complicated women of color. Her work has been nationally produced in over 35 states and recent awards include The National Latinx Playwriting Award for her play "Black Mexican" and the Yale Prize for her play, "Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (You Too August Wilson)".
