Head Drawing after the Great Masters Course Description In this class we will apply basic drawing principles to the study of Heads after past artists. Constructive drawing will be discussed in analyzing artists such as Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Raphael and more. Topics will include Structure, Shape, and Proportion. Artists will be discussed, short demo given, and exercises to work on. Personal 1-on-1 instruction offered throughout.
All levels welcome' and supplies will be provided. Students are welcome to bring their own as well.
Tickets for 4 day class $125.

Course Outline
Week 1: Proportion and Structure Materials, mark-making, strokes Basic Human Head Proportions Structures: Box, Egg, Cylinder conceptions Tilt and Angle Da Vinci, Raphael, Durer, Holbein
Week 2: Construction Blocks and Planes Secondary Structures: Rhythms Michelangelo, Cambiaso, Pontormo, Poussin
Week 3: Features Viewing Features as simple masses Placement/Relationships Da Vinci, Rubens, Rembrandt
Week 4: Master Study Construction of a head after a Master of your choosing

5. Craft Knife to sharpen leads/cut away wood

Artist Bio
Mark Nunez is an artist and instructor living in Northwest Arkansas. He is host of NWA Life Drawing, an uninstructed monthly drawing group and instructor at Community Creative Center. He has exhibited at Fenix Arts, Local Color Gallery, and currently for Arkansas Arts Council traveling ‘Small Works On Paper’ exhibit. He previously worked as a 3D Artist at various studios (mobile, AR/VR) for several years in Los Angeles. You’ll probably stumble upon him learning at Crystal Bridges or out and about in life just sketching.
