Heart of America Artists' Association's Painting the Arkansas Parks
The Windgate Art Gallery at John Brown University is pleased to announce the opening of Painting the Arkansas Parks, a juried exhibition featuring paintings by members of the Heart of America Artists’ Association. The show opens with a public reception on Wednesday, January 15, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., with special guest speaker Kayla Gomance, Deputy Chief of Interpretive Program Services for Arkansas State Parks.
Part of a multi-year creative initiative, Painting the Arkansas Parks highlights the beauty and diversity of Arkansas’s natural landscapes. Twenty-five artists are represented in the exhibition, each contributing a plein air study painted on-site at one of seven selected parks, accompanied by a larger studio painting inspired by that original study. Together, these works capture both the immediacy of painting outdoors and the thoughtful refinement that comes from studio practice.
Painting the Arkansas Parks will be on view through February 8, 2026. Admission is free and open to the public.
