OLLI - Chasing Waterfalls: Magnolia, Woods Boys & Stahle Falls

OLLI - Chasing Waterfalls: Magnolia, Woods Boys & Stahle Falls

Come explore one of the
most dramatic waterfall clusters in the Ozarks
on this rugged hiking adventure into the remote Boen Gulf drainage of the Upper Buffalo
River Wilderness. Arkansas boasts more than
200 natural waterfalls, and in winter and spring
these landscapes come alive—nowhere more
spectacularly than where two creeks converge
to form Magnolia Falls (26 ft.), Woods Boys Falls
(33 ft.), and Stahle Falls (63 ft.) in a steep, secluded gorge.
This 2.1-mile round-trip trek follows an old jeep
road before transitioning into a short bushwhack, creek crossings, and uneven, rocky terrain. The effort is well rewarded: seeing all three
waterfalls on a single outing offers exceptional
scenery for a relatively short distance. Because
of the rugged footing and off-trail sections, this
hike is recommended only for active, fit hikers
comfortable with challenging conditions.
Meeting location and other information will be
sent to participants upon registration. Activity
level: 3 (Difficult.)
