OLLI - Chasing Waterfalls: The Glory Hole

OLLI - Chasing Waterfalls: The Glory Hole

Come enjoy an adventurous full-day outing to one of Arkansas’s most
unique and memorable waterfalls: the Glory
Hole. Home to hundreds of natural waterfalls,
Arkansas comes alive during the wetter seasons—and the Glory Hole stands out as one
of the most extraordinary. Here, Dismal Creek
has carved a perfect round opening through
an overhanging bluff, sending water plunging
30 feet through the rock to the rugged canyon
below.
This challenging 1.8-mile out-and-back hike
features a downhill descent to the creek and
a steady uphill return, making it best suited
for regularly active hikers comfortable with
uneven, rocky terrain. Expect a scenic drive of
approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach
the trailhead.
Participants are to wear comfortable clothing,
shoes, bring water bottle(s), and a hiking pole.
Meeting location and other information will be sent to participants upon registration. Activity
level: 3.
