OLLI - Following the Missouri River: From Start to Finish

OLLI - Following the Missouri River: From Start to Finish

Join author, speaker, and
adventurer Dr. Larry Campbell as he brings to
life his seven-week journey along the entire
Missouri River—from its source in Three Forks,
Montana, to its confluence with the Mississippi
near St. Louis. Through maps, photos, and interactive discussion, participants will follow the
river’s 2,341-mile path, discovering its changing
landscapes, cultures, and communities.
The session blends geography, history, and environmental insight, offering a broad look at
how the river has shaped the American story—
from Lewis and Clark’s expedition to the present day.
This engaging class offers far more than a travelogue. By participating, you’ll gain a deeper
understanding of the river’s ecological and
cultural importance, learn practical tools for interpreting natural and historic landmarks, and
see how exploration and curiosity connect us
to place and time. Experience the wonders of
the Missouri River and discover why Atchison,
Kansas, stood out as the most memorable stop
of the journey
