Osher Lifelong Learning Institute - Early Hollywood (Pt. 2)

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute - Early Hollywood (Pt. 2)

While some of us think of the 1930s and 1940s as Hollywood’s “golden years,” its beginnings in the teens and twenties established everything that it was to become in later decades. Join John Powers, a director of narrative and documentary films, in this exploration of Thomas Ince, Buster Keaton, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks. From triumphs and innovations, Hollywood paved the way for what was to come and what is still with us. the course will include lectures, discussion, and videos of documentaries and movie clips. this is a follow-up course to early Hollywood, Part One, of legends from this fervent era.
