Osher Lifelong Learning Institute-Edible and Helpful Plants

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute-Edible and Helpful Plants

Throughout history, people have relied on plants for food and wellness. The knowledge of how plants can nourish and help us was well known. There are many edible and beneficial plants right outside your door. We
will look at some of the native plants that can be utilized. In this session, we will look at what most people today call “weeds.” Sasha Bowles, a non-traditional educator with over 20 years of experience in environmental education, cultural al interpretation, and community engagement, will look at how to identify various plant species, their uses, and their natural habitats. After learning about some of the plants, the
group will take a walk and get some first-hand experience finding some of these useful plants. Activity Level: 2
