Osher Lifelong Learning Institute-Iconography: Sacred Art of the Christian East

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute-Iconography: Sacred Art of the Christian East
Icons have been an integral
part of the Christian faith throughout history,
embodying the divine and creating a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds.
Through sacred artistry and symbolism, icons
are powerful tools of devotion and meditation
for the faithful. We will explore the theology
of Eastern iconography (in which all Christian
sacred art has its roots). Our class will view the
icons in person at the Church, as well as digital
images of iconography from some of the most
beautiful churches across the world, both ancient and modern.
Join us for this presentation by Fr. Paul Fuller
at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church (3171 S. 48th
Street in Springdale). Following class, participants will enjoy a delicious Mediterranean meal
prepared by members of the Church.
