Opera Fayetteville is on a mission to engage new listeners to an art form that conjures up stereotypes of the Wagnerian fat lady singing by tackling a contemporary opera written by New York City's Nico Muhly.
This week they'll present "Dark Sisters," about a fundamentalist Mormon family whose children were taken away by the U.S. government.
"They all have really wild and emotional reactions to this, understandably, but Eliza in particular begins to question everything about the community she grew up in," explains Andreas Hager, director for this production.
