UAMS doctors oversee NFL-funded study of non-opioid concussion treatment

The National Football League and its player’s union recently awarded more than a half million dollars to study non-opioid alternatives for treating traumatic head injuries to American Society for Pain and Neuroscience. Dr. Erika Petersen, a professor of neurosurgery at UAMS who chairs the multispecialty Sports Management Task Force for the American Society for Pain and Neuroscience, is one of the doctors leading the study.
