Barrie Hardymon is the Senior Editor at NPR's Weekend Edition, and the lead editor for books. You can hear her on the radio talking everything from Middlemarch to middle grade novels, and she's also a frequent panelist on NPR's podcasts It's Been A Minute and Pop Culture Happy Hour. She went to Juilliard to study viola, ended up a cashier at the Strand, and finally got a degree from Johns Hopkins' Writing Seminars which qualified her solely for work in public radio. She lives and reads in Washington, DC.
For the past few weeks, we’ve been following the creation of a new piece of public art. The collaboration between Eugene Sargent, students in Springdale Public Schools and Cox Communications is now revealed. The unveiling of the 9-foot-tall Tree of Communication took place Nov. 12 at the Cox store on Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville.
Grammy nominations in 95 categories, from Best Children’s Album to Record of the Year, were announced this week. Music from the Fort Smith symphony is one of the nominated pieces.
