Ruth Hawkins Interview Part 1

Dr. Ruth Hawkins.
Arkansas State University
Dr. Ruth Hawkins.

Today, we start the first in a four-part interview series with Dr. Ruth Hawkins.  She will retire at the end of this month, after serving more than 40 years at Arkansas State University.  While she started her early years as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the St. Louis native quickly developed a love for Arkansas heritage.  That passion for preservation would eventually lead her to become the Executive Director of the Arkansas State University Heritage Sites and Executive Director of Arkansas Delta Byways.   In this first interview segment, I asked Hawkins about how she started at Arkansas State University.   Click on the Listen button for the entire interview.

Next week, we will talk to Dr. Hawkins about how the Arkansas State University Heritage Sites were formed, with the first location being in Piggott.  When we come back, we will have another segment of A-State Connections and Create@State: Making Connections that Count.  You’re listening to A-State Connections on KASU.
