The University of Arkansas Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing and Translation is proud to present a virtual reading with the 2021-22 Walton Visiting Writer in Translation Kate Briggs. Kate Briggs is a writer, educator and French-to-English translator. She is currently working on "The Long Form", a book about co-living, the novel and enrhythment, is forthcoming with Fitzcarraldo Editions; as well as a translation of Hélène Bessette's first novel, "Lili pleure". Previous translations include two volumes of Roland Barthes's lecture notes: "How to Live Together" and "The Preparation of the Novel", both published by Columbia University Press. She is the author of "This Little Art" (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2017), a long essay on the practice of translation, and the 2021 recipient of a Windham-Campbell prize for nonfiction. She lives and works in Rotterdam, NL, where she runs a collective reading, writing and publishing initiative called Short Pieces That Move!
