Non-Profit Pickic
On September 20th, Fayetteville, Arkansas-based venue Prairie Street Live is hosting a “Non-Profit Picknic,” a benefit concert for Arkansas organization Natural State of Being, Inc. (“NSOB”). The non-profit, launched in early 2025 by singer/songwriter and upright bassist Melissa Carper, seeks to provide lodging, rehabilitation, and healing to those experiencing homelessness as well as those with drug addiction and mental health issues.
The event will feature performances from Carper, Bonnie Montgomery, Chucky Waggs, and Sophia Clark. The organizers have also planned a silent auction, along with a food and clothing drive for several homeless shelters and day centers located in Northwest Arkansas. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and can be purchased on the venue’s website (HERE). Tickets are also available at the NSOB website (HERE), along with information on sponsorship and donation opportunities.
Carper and the NSOB team are exploring opportunities for land donations and are actively considering locations in Northwest Arkansas, Little Rock, Fort Smith, and Hot Springs, and surrounding areas. Featuring 20 tiny homes, residents will be able to connect with nature and learn skills like working on the onsite organic farm, growing their food, and preparing it in the site’s shared kitchen. One community at a time, Carper and her team are working to build a brighter future - where housing, healing, and hope go hand in hand.
