The Machine Behind the Art: Inside JR’s Printing Press is one of JR’s most extensive immersive and experiential works to date. After taking portraits in one of three individual photo booths, visitors enter the interior of an oversized, whirring printing press – turning their image into a tangible work of art while offering a glimpse into the creative process of JR. After the experience, visitors leave with their own, one-of-a-kind print.

Translated more than any
book but the Bible, the Tao Te Ching is still
largely unknown to and/or misunderstood by
modern-day Westerners. It is NOT a religious
text, but rather an exquisite manual for living
with integrity, as useful (perhaps more?) today
than it was in the Chinese world of 500 BCE.
As William Martin (author/translator) says, “It
makes no claim to special Divine inspiration, yet
it has brought inspiration to countless millions
over the centuries. It is a beautiful expression of
wisdom and encouragement that arises from
a clear understanding of˜the Way the World
Works.” In this session, Dr. Larry Campbell, who has extensive experience with the Tao Te Ching, will
provide an overview of the book. We will look
at its background, examine briefly its possible
authorship, discuss why various translations are
SO different, and take a look at sample translations of various verses, and familiar passages
you may never have known were from the Tao
Te Ching! Time permitting, we will also explore some of the fascinating connections to
Christianity and the words & wisdom of Jesus,
in a book written 500 years before the time of
Christ.

The moment of arrival—what we carry when we seek sanctuary, transitions, and the crossing into safety. Sandra Spotts, artist. Jay Lane, artist. Familiar images made from various materials and objects, found and recycled, placed in a format of controlled chaos, is at this point in my journey, the medium of choice for the
“Finding Our Way” exhibit at Gotahold Brewing. I see society as satirical subject matter that exists in a surrealistic landscape of twisted perspective that is filled to the fences with social ironies. And yet, I still have to maintain my sense of humor about what has been and what will be with the activities du jour based on fear, war, greed, and hate. With this sense also comes my interpretations, expressed visually based on my
experiences, feelings, and health, from finding my way as an artist. I hope these pieces give you a sense of curiosity that you continue to carry with you while you are finding your way through all of this we humans call life."

School for Advanced Studies - Northwest Arkansas Annual Art Gala on April 10, 5-7 p.m.

The Northwest Arkansas community is invited to the School for Advanced Studies - Northwest Arkansas Annual Art Gala! Experience student art, solo ceramic shows, live music, and dance performances.

We will also be showcasing elements of our Integrated Arts Partnership with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The Crystal Bridges Mobile Art Lab will be on site for our guests to create their own artwork.

We will be accepting ideas for the "untold stories of Rogers, AR" which will be the foundation for the creation of a community art piece during the 2026-27 school year.

Guests will also have a chance to participate in viewing American Art through the process of Visual Thinking Strategies, using some of the techniques that School for Advanced Studies - Northwest Arkansas students use to study art from the Crystal Bridges collection.

We will also be hosting an Empty Bowls Fundraiser where guests can purchase an original ceramic art piece.

All proceeds go to the CARE Community Center.

A Celebration of Choctaw Art and Culture is a partnership between ACHE and Choctaw Nation Public Arts. The reception opening will be held Thursday, April 9th, 5-7pm, with the exhibition on display through May 22nd. Celebrate the voices, stories and artistry of Choctaw nation of Oklahoma in a vibrant exhibition featuring both traditional and contemporary works. This showcase honors Choctaw culture through pieces that reflect ancestral knowledge, lived experiences and modern expression. Experience powerful artwork, support Native American artists, and connect with the rich and enduring artistic legacy of the Choctaw Nation. Free. Open to the public. Bring Your Own Tote! Inspired by the textiles featured in American 250: Common Threads, this Studio Social invites you to give your well-loved tote bags new life through hand-stitched embellishment. Led by quilting artist Linda Pumphrey, you’ll learn how to combine patchwork fabric, simple embroidery, and decorative details like buttons and stitching to transform an everyday bag into something uniquely yours. Bring your own tote or use one of ours.

Studio Socials are more than workshops — they’re creative nights out designed for connection and exploration. With a relaxed, drop-in format and a cash bar, these events make art approachable and fun. Come with friends or on your own and enjoy a welcoming space to experiment, socialize, and head home with something you’ve made by hand.

Studio Socials with Queer Craft Corner are more than workshops, they’re creative nights out designed for connection and exploration. With a cash bar and a relaxed, drop-in format lead by Queer Craft Corner and special guests artists, these events make art approachable and fun! Whether you come with friends or on your own, you’ll enjoy a welcoming, safe space to experiment, socialize, and leave with artworks you’ve made yourself.

Amy Leisure will teach a class on the basics of crochet using fabric strips. Participants will leave with a hook, a bowl, and the knowledge to create many fun projects. Ages 10-15 must be accompanied by a paid parent or guardian, class size limited to 10. Folkways fiber volunteers will be available to help students learn one-on-one. Sack lunch is recommended since the class runs from 10am to 2pm.

$40 fee includes all materials and instruction.
