Of Note for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015: Shelest Interprets "Schumannish" Expression

Piano virtuoso Anna Shelest has a special appreciation for Schumann, and it shows in her performances. In a 2012 interview, Shelest called Schumann a “towering genius whose pianistic output is as important as Chopin, Liszt, and Brahms…He knows exactly how he wants the piano to sound, and what we call awkwardness is actually his unique ‘Schumannish’ form of expression.” Join us on Wednesday’s program for Shelest’s performance of Schumann’s first piano sonata and much more.
