Internationally acclaimed Irish pianist Michael McHale brings classical favorites to Fayetteville this Friday. Ahead of his free performance, which includes Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Of Note's Katy Henriksen finds out why McHale deems this piece "one of the most unique compositional achievements of any composer, in any era."
"I was most inspired when I heard the piano version," McHale explains. "I remember seeing [a performance] and being transfixed by the power of this music. It almost made the piano sound like an orchestra and I find that really fascinating."
